MEET THE HODGEPODGE CATTLE CREW. . .
We have two dairy cows here on the farm. Their purpose is to provide fresh raw milk and cream, which separates easily to make delicious butter, sour cream, and cream cheese. When they have bull calves, they are either sold or steered to become grass fed beef. Heifers are either retained or sold. We do not currently offer herd shares for raw milk.
Elsie is a heritage/miniature Jersey cow. A2/A1, 38″ at hip. Heritage Jerseys are more similar in size to the original Jersey cows of old, and their smaller size makes them perfect for a homestead on small acreage. Elsie is the absolute sweetest cow you could ever hope to meet. She is a dream at the milk stanchion and has a lovely udder.
Mille is a Normande heifer. Normande cattle are a heritage breed originating in France and known for producing milk that creates superb cheese.
